“My Morning Glory” by Amanda Kenney
The sun shines through the window and
quiets my mind.
Our bare feet brush throws while
you sit with me.
This is best and better yet.
You wrap your tiny fingers through mine,
calming my spirit.
You heal in ways and
this is all I need.
“Mother,” you say and tickle my sides.
“Son,” I say and tear with laughter.
This is happiness and
you are my constant.
Just outside our door the
flowers are blooming.
They turn toward the sun and
grow and grow.
My love for you grows and grows.
You are my morning glory.
